SNW Engagement Update: CDP

In support of our commitment as an Investor Signatory to CDP’s Carbon Action and Climate Change programs we engaged with over 40 companies whose bonds we hold in client portfolios during the past quarter. This engagement was in conjunction with the annual disclosure requests submitted to companies worldwide by CDP asking companies to report publicly on their carbon footprint, including a detailed inventory of their greenhouse gas emissions and their related policies and programs.  This data is used by investors, including SNW, to determine the suitability of a company for inclusion in portfolios that are being managed to encourage positive and improving environmental outcomes. CDP will release the result of the 2016 campaign, including the associated data sets collected, later this year.

Our partnership with CDP will continue in October when we participate in the 2016 CDP Cities Workshop. Focused on climate change and adaptation planning, this event is intended to help cities better understand and take advantage of green investment opportunities, private sector collaboration to achieve mitigation and adaptation goals, and the tools available from the Compact of Mayors program for managing data on city greenhouse gas inventories.
